The aggressive Orioles are "even willing to move" top prospect Dylan Bundy "for the right return," sources tell Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports. Perhaps any player can be moved for the right return, but Rosenthal's report implies the Orioles are more willing to listen on Bundy than teams usually are on top prospects.
Probably because he's already having Tommy john surgery. I know pitchers recover from that nowadays but that still has to scare the O's a bit.

Braves trying to acquire Downs or Russell. Gonzalez a backup plan.

The Braves announce they have acquired LHP Scott Downs from the Angels for Cory Rasmus.
That may be it for us this year. Like the move though.

yeah he's only given up 7 runs this season....4 of those were in April

And great vs lefties which is what we needed. Nice job, Wren.

might be one of the better trades he's pulled off in my opinion
you get a beast in the bullpen for someone who was never going to keep a spot on the 25 man roster

Yeah, particularly since we gave up absolutely nothing for him.

Rangers asked about mccann. Were told to gtf

Damn just came to post it

The Rangers’ search for offensive help is so extensive, they recently contacted the Atlanta Bravesabout a trade for McCann, according to major-league sources. The Braves, leading the NL East by 8.5 games, had no interest in trading their starting catcher, who will be a free agent at the end of the season.

Well it looks like we are getting a draft pick then for next year. What kind of a draft pick are we looking at?
*disclaimer* I've never been able to understand the MLB draft, so my above question may sound stupid to the stat heads. I apologize in advance.

The reason why Nathan was signed in 2012 was because Feliz is no longer effective as a closer (or any other role for that matter). And now they think he can regain that role?
Ummm...false. Feliz moved to the rotation. He didn't fail as a closer. The organization put him where they always wanted him, it would seem. But they're not going to rely on Feliz to be the closer.

Scheppers is liable to have PTSD from being attacked on a food run.
Dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb. Scheppers has shown that he's ready to be a closer. I feel more comfortable that HE'LL hold a lead than I do Nathan. Scheppers is a legit closing option.
quote:
Ogando could be the closer--if he wasn't so insistent on being a starter (which he did for an entire 1/2 season, then the rest of the league caught up).
IF Ogando gets moved back to the bullpen, I doubt it's to be the closer. It'd more likely be in long/middle relief, IMO. Talk about making a stretch. Ogando's never closed or been a setup man (not that I remember).
quote:
Soria is still an unknown at this point coming back from arm surgery.
True, but he's looked good since coming back. He's a legit option for closing.
All of this without even mentioning any of the other guys already in the bullpen (namely Cotts).
The Rangers are STACKED in the bullpen. Just loaded. They are NOT stacked with great hitters. If they can trade someone like Nathan and get a starting, right-handed or switch-hitting, OF - it's a good thought.
The offense is what's going to keep the Rangers out of the playoffs. You don't have a need for a badass closer if you're losing every game. They've GOT to get some bats or it won't even matter who the closer is.
Roll the dice, see if Nathan brings a good bat, then see if Scheppers/Soria/Cotts/etc can handle the closing duties. It's definitely not a bad strategy.
