Like the Delabar trade for #BlueJays. He has 11.3 SO/9 and .927 WHIP this year.

They only get the supplemental pick if they make a qualifying offer and Dempster doesn't take it, right? He already said he is going to take it.

they will offer, but have heard the Cubs brass will tell him if he accepts, that he better enjoy pitching out of the bullpen, because that is where he will be.

If Cubs fail to move Dempster, Garza, Soriano, LaHair is this trading deadline a big fail for them? They came in with most chips to move and only a few small moves. I know Dempster blocked their potential blockbuster But still

It's not a fail in that they aren't trying. There is still plenty of time, yet. And the Reds are interested in Garza now. As I said earlier, if they can move Soriano in any move whatsoever, that's a giant win.

I don't think anyone's interested in LaHair. He's been miserable lately.

Yeah but if he comes cheap or a team gets desperate since he can play IF/OF. Seems only Headly/LaHair/Morneau are only position players who can play 1B on market (or am I forgetting someone?) and Yanks may need one of them. Headly makes most sense but LaHair may be most attainable.

Anyone see on rumor mill D-Backs looking for a premium starting pitcher who is under team control? King Felix to D-Backs for Bauer and others?

According to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports, one rival executive said early Tuesday that he had "received indications" that the Phillies and Diamondbacks had discussed a deal involving Cliff Lee and Justin Upton.

Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun reports that the talks between the Phillies and the Orioles over Joe Blanton have hit a snag. Before looking at the story, I assumed it involved the O’s inspection of Blanton’s medical records and their presumed discovery that his blood type is, in fact, rich, creamy Yoo-Hoo. I was wrong, though. It’s money:

That would be quite interesting. You would think the prospect would have to be either Pollack or Eaton in such a proposed deal.

Would be biggest trade but don't see why it would happen as neither team is good this year. D-Backs are 6.5 out of first wild card but only 3.5 back of San Fran for Division. They need some offense so I can't see them giving up Upton without getting a bat back.
