Please attempt to make an intelligent argument for the Astros signing a big name free agent to a big contract this off season.

Please enlighten me.

Hanley hits a triple in his first AB as a Dodger.

What you're asking is impossible. It was already clearly explained. I recommend you calling your healthcare provider to further assist you with your problem.

A baseball person familiar with the situation said Wednesday the Brewers were taking calls from teams interested in trading for right-hander Zack Greinke.
“It sounds like he’s as good as gone,” said that major-league source. “There’s no reason for them to keep him now.”

The teams believed to be making the strongest push for Greinke were the Texas Rangers, Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Angels. Some of the top Brewers scouts have been watching the Rangers' top prospects, including pitchers Martin Perez and Justin Grimm.

#Brewers have had top scouts looking at prospects in Texas' system. The Rangers have keen interest in Zack Greinke.

Would make this year totally worth it if the Brewers got Miller for 2 months of Greinke, Cards miss playoffs and Greinke signs elsewhere in FA.

This is the slowest the trade deadline deals have been since I can remember. You would think with an extra wild card spot, more teams would be looking for that extra piece to push their team over the top.

Coincidentally, that could also be the reason why we aren't seeing more trades. Teams still think they have a shot at getting that last spot, so they are holding on to players and hope.

That would most certainly make my year.

Huh?

There's already been several big deals and a bunch of small ones.

Soriano rumors heating up.

quote:

The Rays recently DFA Matsui… Could they be working a deal for Soriano?

quote:

Soriano seems like he maybe the first piece to leave the Cubs. He is getting interest from the Bucs, Indians, and Rays.

O please let this happen:

quote:

The Rangers have now emerged as front runners for Garza according my source. The same source says with Lewis going down the Rangers maybe willing to deal Olt and/or Perez now.

quote:

The Dodgers remain interested in Garza and the Dodgers are willing to deal Zach Lee for him. The Cubs will not deal Garza until Dempster is off the table.

Olt is their big deal 3B prospect, right? That's solid as the frick if that happens. Vitters is also putting together a fine season in Iowa right now, hitting .303 .353 .511 .864 with 30 2B 15 HR and 62 RBI. He's only 22.

Yes...Olt is more of a "sure thing" than Vitters, and has more pop and is better defensively.
I seriously doubt Garza is worth both Martin Perez and Olt.

Let's hope Grienke lands elsewhere, and soon.

Seems a lot of teams are waiting for Garza's start on Monday vs PIT (day before the deadline), before closing on a deal. It'd be ideal if he throws well and is the last big SP on the market at the time.

If he pitches well, the Cubs should cut him off at 5 innings especially if he's pitching well.

Reds looking at Denard Span? Is he really that much of an upgrade over Ryan Ludwick?

now Shane Victorino in that OF would be solid

Not really seen as having the potential to be an everyday player at the big league level.

Span plays great defense and is a prototypical leadoff man who hits for a good average and gets on base. Much better player than Ludwick.
