Kick the FG, give them good field position and all that's changed is that they need a fricking 2-point conversion after their TD.
They still have to drive the field down 8, not 6 plus get the 2 to tie, pts, still keeps Minnesota in the game, But No conversion on 4th up 6 pts, gives Seattle the upper hand.
Still bad call

No sir kicking the FG, put huge odds in your favor to win

But that's all the FG does...is give them 2-yards and they're now in an OT game.
1-yard to win the game...2-yards to stay in the game.
(Can we all agree they needed a TD in either scenario, which they got? )
The FG is not that great of a reward vs. the reward of making a yard to win the game.
2 yards to stop for a win, 1 yard to gain for a win.
Plus the KO gives them an easier chance to score that game tying TD plus 2.
All stats point to going for the 1st down. There's not a tremendous upside to the FG apart from yeah...we extended the game into OT...why not decide the game on 1 yard?
When all is said and done...and the Seahawks score a TD which they needed in either scenario...so that's a non-factor...
Is 1 yard...the FG would've gained the Vikings 1 yard in deciding the game. 2 yards to stop, 1 yard to win.
Oh, but they would've secured OT. FG was not worth the reward vs. the reward of gaining one yard for the win.

Going for it was the right decision. Kicking the FG meant you might lose the game without ever touching the ball again.
Hindsight is now 20/20, but had Minn kicked XPs on their two TDs in the 2nd half, then the FG at the end would have sealed it.
