I have no idea what this means. Was Tyson a street thug in Brooklyn, robbing people when he was 12? Was Tyson the youngest heavyweight champion of all time? So what exactly was it that you were trying to convey again?

Yes, yes, yes. But he didn't handle success for whatever reasons and his career was shortened and tarnished because of it.

If we only want to view boxers through a limited time frame, I will say that Buster fricking Douglas was a better fighter than Mike Tyson because of the fight where he whipped his fricking arse before a largely silent Japanese audience.

Douglas was masterful that night and looked as good as anyone I've ever seen. Sadly he never approached that level again, but hey, if we are selectively evaluating parts of boxer's career, he would be up there with any of them.

Anyway, back to the OP.....

Yeah, not a person reading this thread could throw 4 punches, as quickly with as much force and precision as just demonstrated. He was an awesome puncher. I miss him.

When things were going his way inside the ring Tyson was a machine ,but the moment he got fustrated by an opponent:

1) He quit in Holyfield II
2)Tyson is on tape asking to quit on his stool in the Lewis fights after Rd 7. His corner begged him to go back in.

3) he quit like a dog again in his last fight.

I can't imagine Ali/ Frazier/ Marciano/ Louis begging out of 2 Championship fights & quitting on their stools like a dog. Multiple times.

The same Larry Holmes who, at 42, beat Ray Mercer and took Holyfield the distance, right?

So was he finished at 38, but not at 42?

You're so desperate to make excuses for Tyson that you put words in my mouth? Where did I say Holmes was "finished"?

That was a Holmes past his prime , after a nearly 3 year retirement following back to back losses to a blown up Light Heavyweight. Not exactly his best hour.

He was only forced to fight Evander because Evander was vocal in making Tyson face his judgement day to the public every chance he got. Tyson dodged him for years after thier first encounter in the GYM.

It's even worse. Tysons camp fought him because at the time many thought Holyfield was nearly shot/ and had retired for a congenital heart disease:

1)Holyfield had lost his last of of 3 battles with Bowe in a Ko.
2) Lost the belt 2 years earlier to Michael Moorer
3) retired immediately after Moorer due to heart

Tyson's camp( avoided Lewis) but saw Holyfield who had taken some punishment in the Bowe fights & Koed , , more mileage / punches taken in the Ring , 4 years older than Mike & coming off 2 losses in his last 4 fights & a congenital heart disease,etc...

That Holyfield knocked out Tyson & made him quit in the rematch . It seems Tyson( known for quitting fights) was the fighter with the " heart " condition. Not Holyfield.

6 months? You mean you couldn’t train for 16 years and have time stand still for you and still last a round. Dude would kill anyone of us.
