I know there aren't many fans of cycling around, but the season has started.
- Remco already looks to be in good form, just won a short stage race.
- Team Jumbo Visma is now Visma Lease-A-Bike, so from TJV to VLAB, I guess, and they haven't looked great, but not bad. I'm interested to see how things go without Primoz.
- Haven't heard anything about Primoz on his new team, or news about Pogocar or Jonas.
- Chris Horner said Egan Bernal might be back to some good form again, which could make things very interesting in the grand tours.
- Tour De France has some alterations because of the Olympics, so that might be interesting in how that unfolds.
- I think Ineos could be the 'comeback' team of the year, we'll see.
- At the grand tours we have the possibility of Sepp, Jonas, WVA, Remco, Egan, Pogocar, Primoz, and others, in any given tour, so there could be fireworks in the Giro, Le Tour, and Vuelta.
- Some have suggested making the grand tours shorter and I think that is an awful idea. I hope they don't mess with them. Cycling grand tours are the best events in sports.

Things just getting started. Classics should be good and the grand tours should, once again, be amazing.

I think Ineos really screwed up in letting Dani Martinez go to Bora.

That might be true, it's a good point - but they have some good younger riders, and if Bernal looks good again, they may be a better team than last year. I forgot to mention him - will be interesting to see how things go having him and Primoz over at Bora. I thought Primoz may go to Ineos, but perhaps Bora was a better fit for him.

I’ll be doing my usual grand threads for each of the Grand Tours this season starting with the Giro.

I agree to an extent- they have for sure some one day guys but rolling their GC dice on Bernal ( who I hope can come back to his old form), Pidcock who has never tried to place in GC and a ninety year old Geraint Thomas seems risky. Martinez looks like he definitely could be one of those second tier GC guys who could win a giro or vuelta and I think they will regret letting him go

Mathieu van der Poel is by far the best Cyclist in the world. Don't care if Chris Horner thinks he sucks because he's not racing for Grand Tours.

If you're not a player in the grand tours, I don't know that you can be in that discussion.

Agreed.

Interesting subplot this year is Soudal-Quickstep moving more of their roster to help Remco with GC - how bad does it hurt them in the Classics/sprinting that they previously were so good at? And was it worth it?

The hometown favorite team Team UAE completely blew up on the last stage of the UAE Tour.
They are looking to the team doc to see what went wrong

Quickstep hasn’t been good in the cobbled classics since. 2020-2021
