I'm very impressed with Sonny Dykes, he's the first coach I've ever seen actually do the go for 2 when down 14 thing beyond the high school level.

Its mathematically far superior than kicking the PAT.

Can someone tell me why they went for 2?

If you make it you're down 6 and in position to win the game instead of tie

If you miss it you're down 8 and you still have the opportunity to tie if you get the next 2.

If you run the conditional probabilities you win the game more often by the 2 point strategy.

The goal is to win the game, not force overtime. Forcing OT is a loss as often as a win and playing to force overtime strategy is playing to lose 50% of the time.

Calling a few of those runs, especially the one on first and goal from the 9, made his 2 point strategy moot.

To make matters worse, people act like kicking the PAT twice is a guarantee. The reality is you'll miss one of them about 8% of the time, on average. A team like SMU is likely to miss one over 30% of the time.

That's not very hospitable of you. He's bitter. Remember, Henry's still gotta put up with Matt Luke.

And... think about this... Norvell goes to Arkansas and Memphis hires Hugh Freeze. That'd REALLY make Henry's head spin.

Although, given the recent performance of AAC coaches when the move to a Power 5 conference, are teams still willing to take a risk on one?

You have Chad Morris sucking it up at Arkansas, Scott Frost (the most overrated coach in NCAA football) sucking it up at Nebraska and former Memphis coach Justin Fuente not exactly meeting expectations at Va. Tech.

I hope Matt Luke stays forever.

Ole Miss can't even blatantly cheat and still win anything that matters.

You are selectively picking former AAC coaches to fit your narrative. Some have had success.

That's just the last 3 I could think of that have left.

I told you Memphis would get the Ponies. Was way closer than expected. If Memphis doesn’t have the 2 returns we may have had a OT game. But it was a good ride good game

Shouldn't have been nearly that close.

Horrible officiating. Took at least three Memphis scores off the board. Gave another score to SMU.

They did their darndest to protect the lone AAC undefeated team. Memphis just wouldn't let them do it.

In all seriousness, if both teams do what they whould do, the day after Thanksgiving looks to be another top 20 matchup for the AAC at the Liberty Bowl. It HAS to be a national ABC games, doesn't it? Nobody else worth anything is playing, are they?

Probably will be.

Our game on Black Friday v. Houston in 2016 was on ABC too.
