It's been rough sailing recently for McKinley athletic coaches, even under previous principals, boys basketball coach was suspended for the remainder of the 2015-16 season in January 2016, suspension was upheld by a civil court judge:

Glad to see Sid Edwards hire Hilton even after all this. Sid is just a great guy.

They will appeal and the penalty will be reduced. The LHSAA compliance officers would notify us before they came to our school. I agree the paperwork can be tedious but it has to be done. The violation of playing an ineligible player in a jv game is a common practice and one that Mr. Bonine has discussed before. Mr. Bonine made a very good point about the practice of playing ineligible players in jv games. If the ineligible player seriously injured someone in a game, the school and coach are really opening themselves up for legal issues. With that said, McKinley just has to say human error and everything will be fine. If the LHSAA can say it, so can McKinley.

you can't say "human error" for that many infractions in every sport. A system allowed this to happen

I agree. That portion of my statement was meant jokingly. It will be interesting to see if someone says that for a minor paperwork infraction this upcoming year. I am curious to see the response of the LHSSA if someone does do that.

human error for one thing is very plausible with the LHSAA's rulebook...

But what McKinley was doing is the total and complete polar opposite of what well run high school athletic departments do.

I agree. When I would speak with the compliance officers that would come to our school they would tell stories of going to schools and the terrible records keeping.
