What a colorful character. He was a huge star but flamed out quickly. Had all sorts of crazy mannerisms and I believe he was on the cover of SI with Big Bird from Sesame Street (or maybe he appeared on Sesame Street). Given my tender years at the time, that part was pretty impressive.

SI did a cool piece on Fidrych a few years back. Very interesting, down to earth guy. And pre-injury, Lord, could he pitch.

A one of a kind guy!! he LOVED being on the farm!!!! Down to earth and realized he HAD HIS 15 MINS OF FAME!!!!! TOO BAD the MLB dosn't have more of guys like this!!!!!!!!!
