And they still don't have a legit RB since Jamaal Charles left.

Why didn't they recruit Christine Michael harder? All I heard about Michael was that he wanted to go to LSU but eventually ended up at Texas A&M. He would have been a very good RB for the Longhorns and helped their offense tremendously.

i think the RB issue is scheme more than anything

RBs just aren't important in spreads

OLs are more pass blocking, smaller, more agile, and less aggressive in spreads

GG doesn't look like a spread QB. doesn't process the information quickly and needs a shorter release and more midrange accuracy

so you try to go pro-style, after being a spread team, and it's just a mess. then you try to do half and half and you get LSU-west

He played in a spread offense for 4 years at Lake Travis High School and won 3 state championships in it.

that seriously is meaningless in terms of his abilities to perform on a BCS level

The accolades don't, but he's been in a spread offense and knows how to run it. The problem is he doesn't have time to throw the ball. If you go back and watch his games, I'd venture to say that 65-70% of his throws are all on the run/thrown while his feet aren't set due to the fact that he's having to run from pressure. One way to take the pressure off of him is to run the ball, which Texas clearly can't do.
