Lexi Thompson had a two shot lead a few minutes ago. The officials had someone call in an hour or so ago and let them know that YESTERDAY Lexi replaced her ball on the green in the wrong spot.
That's a 2 shot penalty plus a 2 shot penalty for signing an incorrect scorecard.
Now she's 2 back.
Not that many people will care
but it's crazy and seems like this stuff happens to someone every year.

I'd like to see a video on this to see exactly how egregious it was.
I've never been a fan of viewers calling in and reporting rules violations. Even so, I think it is ridiculous that they can retroactively apply both the original penalty AND the penalty for an incorrect scorecard.

That is ridiculous. To assess a golfer a four stroke penalty that far into her next round is absolutely ridiculous. Your approach in those two situations is completely different.

I'll try to find a link, but this type of thing happened in the 1960s on a British open. They said "don't worry about it"

I read last year the PGA & USGA gets swamped with calls during Majors. Almost all turn out to be nothing.
