What about Cavs sign and trade Love to Portland for Aldridge? It was reported a few months back that the Cavs would be his leading option if Love left. It seems like with the Blazers trading Batum just now sometbing is brewing. Just speculation though.

He's from Oregon is the only reason.

And he can put up great stats on a garbage team again.

That and I believe he could get more money with the sign and trade unless that rule has changed. I see him going to L.A though.

Aldridge doesn't fit with the Cavs. They need a stretch 4. You thought they mishandled Love? See what happens when they get a guy not nearly as good at shooting the 3

It was mentioned in an ESPN article today that Portland is the wild card for Love. I am just reading tea leaves and certain speculation.
I honestly think the best thing the Cavs could
do is get Danny Green. The three point shooting and defense would be perfect with Lebron. I am sure it's not possible though.

In a dream world...
Cavs resign everyone besides Delly and maybe TT and are able to trade 1st round pick + Haywood to Spurs for Danny Green and Patty Mills.
Spurs need something to help them sign Aldridge in FA.

Trading Splitter or having a wink-wink deal with Duncan does the same trick.
Also, the Spurs won't do anything to help a legitimate title contender.
Green is clearly better off in San Antonio than anywhere else in the league.
Zach Lowe mentioned Spurs looking at Jimmy Butler. That would be scary.

Yeah. The rumor is they are trying to trade Splitter and another piece. But they would still have to trade it for players with a similar $$ value who they can cut (which is why Haywood is valuable as a trade option). They can't just trade Splitter for nothing and have 10 mill and free space.
And honestly, the Green thing isn't even a reality. I'm pretty sure he is a FA. He won't be S&T.
And the Spurs can't get Butler and Aldridge. They would most likely rather have Aldridge.

What is the difference between Love and Green when it comes to sign and trades? Aren't both FA? I am ignorant on some of this.

I honestly don't know the situation with Green but most teams wouldn't need to do a sign and trade for a guy like him. He's only worth ~10 mill a year. They can just sign him out right.
Kevin Love on the other hand is worth 20+ mill a year and most teams don't have the flexibility to just sign him outright so they would have to do a sign and trade to acquire a player of his stature.

Don't have time to read these six pages, but it's been clear as day for awhile that Love is going to do a S&T.
But mainly I wanted to bump this thread, there's a lot of funny business in here.
