I was right

ESPN Seahawks reporter Terry Blount reports Marshawn Lynch was seeking $5 million more than the "concessions" Seattle gave him, bumping his 2014 pay by $1.5 million. The $1.5 million offer was reportedly on the tape from the Seahawks since way back at minicamp, and moved Lynch's 2014 guaranteed take from $5 million to $6.5 million. "The offer never changed" from the team, per Blount. The Seahawks have still not formally waived or resolved the $30,000 per-day fines Lynch incurred during his week-long holdout. Ultimately, zero money was actually added to Lynch's contract. His base salary increased by $1 million by turning would-be incentives into salary, and $500,000 was moved from Lynch's 2015 into 2014. Per Blount, Lynch "realizes there's a good possibility" he is cut next offseason.

Yeah, I doubt the seahawks want to get into another Shaun Alexander situation.

Being underutilized in Buffalo, he may have more tread then people want to think. At 30 years old, Steven Jackson was able to land a 4 mil per year contract. Lynch shouldn't have any issue getting 5 per barring an injury or crappy season.

I don think anyone's going to say "oh yeah that Steven Jackson contract worked out great! Let's give lynch that"
No way he gets a 5 mil salary

Hindsight is 20/20. Marshawn Lynch isn't Steven Jackson and Jackson had a lot more mileage on his body than Lynch did.
It's hardly out of the realm of possibility of at least matching that contract... though I think he'll get a 3 year deal at 5 per.

If he gets a 3 year contract ill take a 3 month ban, if he gets it 5 per salary I'll take a 5 month ban, and if he gets both make it 6 months.

The salary cap increases next year as well. Just putting that out there.

Doesn't make running back any warmer of a market
That extra dough will go to overpaying QBs and free agent Corners

Lynch has rushed 1753 times (reg season) over 8 years (219/yr average), 901 in the last 3.
Jackson on the other hand rushed 2552 times over 10 years (255/yr average). His last year in STL he rushed for 1k yards on 257 attempts (4.1ypc).
I think Lynch can honestly get a 3yr/18mil contract if he was to hit the market. Rarely injured since he's been in Seattle and gets a lot of yards after contact.
