Do you get an automatic bid in the playoffs if you win your district?
Yes. Even if your power rating is 33rd or worse, each district champ gets a bid.

Btw all of Acadianas power points are wrong because they are being divided by 10. They only play 9 games.
Actually, mine divides by 7 (as will the LHSAA week 7 rankings) since they've only played 7 games this season. In weeks 9 & 10, the model will account for 9 games as it should.

There are tie-breaker situations to determine the district champ. Only one team is "officially" the district champ as far as determining auto-bids for the playoffs.

You're crazy, I haven't seen Byrd play but you have to be impressed with what they have done and Jesuit is the best team in New Orleans.

It doesn't really matter anyway. The power ranking positions are highly fluid and change considerably weekly. I just think it's interesting to see which teams are "in" and "out" each week.

Thanks for clearing that up about the number of games, some sports websites divide by 10.
And Acadiana does pretty well with new Orleans schools. There are 2 teams I don't want to face in the playoffs 1 is west Monroe ( revenge is a powerful thing in football, just ask STM) and 2. Is Barbe. They are that one team that always gives Acadiana trouble.

I hate this.
We beat the pants off Denham 35-2 my sophmore year but lost to Svotlandville and Denham ran off District champ shirts
Same thing last year, we beat Zachary in there home stadium and they made District champ shirts even tho we beat them head to head
If central were to somehow tie district with Zachary this year I would be embarassed if we ran off district champ shirts because they beat us head to head

From the LHSAA Football Handbook:
quote:
14.10 DISTRICT PLAY
14.10.1 Each district shall determine its own method for determining its first place playoff representative. In the case of a tie, Rule
14.10.5 shall be applied. The district shall set the number of district games a school shall play to be eligible for district
honors. If a district consists of five or fewer teams, each member school shall play a minimum of five district games or play
a round-robin schedule to be eligible for district honors. If two schools do not play the required number of district games
and do not play each other, they shall be ineligible for championship honors. However, a school which agrees in writing to
play shall not be penalized by this rule.
quote:
14.10.3 District first-place representatives shall be named by district committees and reported to the LHSAA by 8:00 p.m. on the
Saturday of the 10th playing date. District chairperson(s) are asked to certify records for all teams in the district by 10:00
p.m., Friday, of the 10th playing week.
quote:
14.10.5 A playoff game shall not be played to decide a district tie. If a district championship is tied, all tied teams shall share championship
honors. If there is a first-place district tie between two teams that played each other during the season, the team
that defeated the other team shall be the first-place playoff representative. If teams play overtime to determine a winner,
and this game is counted for points to determine the district state playoff representative, the overtime win shall count as
one point.
14.10.5 is sort of confusing because it mentions that "all tied teams shall share championship honors." This means that they all have the right to call themselves "District Champions." However, each district gets only 1 "first place playoff representative."
Look at the table in 14.11 on page 4 of the linked pdf. It notes that in 5A, there are 9 districts so there are 23 wildcard teams.

Pretty convenient how you kind of ignored the non-district Schedule Strength...lowest of the bunch based on those numbers.
I wlll say this though, eliminating Grace King from the calculations (which probably should be done since they don't compete in district play) moves 9-5A to 2nd in Week 6 with an average team Power Ranking of 12.42 and up to 1st in Week 7 with an average team Power Ranking of 12.82. But the average team Strength Factor with or without Grace King is dead last in both weeks.
So...if we average together each district's average Power Ranking and Strength Factor, we get the following (this uses District 9-5A figures EXCLUDING Grace King).
Week 6 Overall
[1] 6-5A - Northshore - 10.45
[2] 2-5A - Monroe - 9.65
[3] 1-5A - Shreveport - 9.61
[4] 3-5A - SWLA - 9.47

[7] 5-5A - BR South - 9.10
[8] 8-5A - RP/Jeff - 8.93

lol take out three games with holy cross and we'll be up there
and Byrd, West Monroe, Ouachita, Acadiana, Barbe, Carencro, Dutchtown, St. Paul's, Westgate, Higgins, East St. John, Rummel, Jesuit, and Brother Martin can all make semifinal runs. some good teams are bound to lose early in the playoffs

I agree with all except Higgins, unless they get stuck in a really good bracket they will be out 1st or 2nd round.

It's more than HC being bad. WJ's non-district schedule was pretty lackluster as well.
