I don't like it either; of the 26 public 1A schools, you have 10 that will be worse than .500, another 3 that will have to win out to be .500 and another 3 that may or may not be .500 or above.

In 1983 Church Point lost one game to Teurlings, but beat Notre Dame, Notre Dame beat Teurlings leaving all 3 teams with one district loss. Teurlings was 8-2, ND 9-1 and CP 9-1. All were given district co-champs but CP was left out of playoff based on margin of victory. CP was ranked 6th after beating ND the final week of the season.
