Now the 69 i get, as Big Red is on another level. The 76 would have put him in the 79 Derby and that was Spectacular Bid....and I assume you meant to refer to the 78 Triple Crown where he was runner up? BTW, he was a BEAST!!!

Correct, I got my years mixed up.

he was a beast, and quite the daddy too. such a shame. my parents got to see him before he was killed. secretariat too. i've never been to a big tb farm. maybe one day the boy will take me.
btw, sunday silence was my favorite race horse ever, and i almost put up a pic with him and easy goer, but decided to go older

Well then this will make you shite a brick. My uncle was the farm manager there when the foreign guy bought it from the Lundy's. He is no longer there as he has moved on to bigger and better farms. I have actually been to the graveyard and stood in the stall where they killed him. Calumet is an AWESOME farm as far as history goes.

it really went down in flames huh? at least the polish guy kept the famr together. so beautiful to fly into lex over calumet. where does he work now?
my mom was big college buddies with stacy hancock. i keep bugging her to get me to stone farms. maybe one day...
and glass... i've already used my crystal ball once. don't know any more tips i can give. especially since my horse may leap the rail and jump into the stands

you ever go up to churchill?
Posted on 4/25/10 at 10:00 pm to Aspercel
Yes, I go to Churchill. Maybe once or twice a year. Keeneland is my track, and honestly I would rather go to River Downs than Churchill. My uncle works at Gainesway, and yes he is in the our team section of the site.

i'm trying to find a cheapish flight in to lousiville for belmont weekend to go see the boy, but it's not really happening. the only time i've ever been to churchill was last year for derby. was just wondering if you'd be kicking around up there since i'd probably have to entertain myself while the ponies run, but i'll probably be too poor to get up there anyway...
churchill didn't really impress me. and i'm not really a stalker that's going to go look people up on gainsway's website
btw... i dont care how crazy his babies are, i love tapits. can't wait for careless jewel to run again. boy liked her up in canada when she was still a maiden, so i've followed her for a while

Let me know ahead of time if you are going up there and I will try to arrange that as my day at Churchill
Posted on 4/25/10 at 10:17 pm to Bho
will do. any thoughts on who else you like in the race? i'm a bit beyond confused right now. almost seems like anyone but dutrow's dumbass can win the race

I would like to see Claiborne farms, is it as nice as people say? I would also like to go see the yearling sale at Keeneland sometime.

Is he the one that we always end up getting good pics of?
Posted on 4/26/10 at 2:45 pm to BBMcGee
Yup. He rode Denny and Richie
Posted on 4/26/10 at 2:48 pm to Aspercel
Then he really needs another grey!!
Quick hijack...any news on Denny? How she doing? Just off b/c of not being on her meds?

Watched the replay and she stopped bad. Once she was passed, he just let her canter home instead of pushing her. She just couldn't breathe. I wish they'd shorten her up.
Pretty sure backtalk is a chestnut

Well I'm definitely putting something on Miguel. I don't mind betting on a chestnut :)

My friends dad trains Backtalk. He's a gorgeous horse in person. I'm rooting for him to make it in. He's 21 on the earnings list right now.
On another note, Aspercel, have you ever read Wild Ride: The Rise and Fall of Calumet Farm? It's an interesting read. Really sad how Calumet was ran into the ground and Alydar had to be caught up in that. :(
