Why is Puckett the backup? I know y'all have AJ Swann on the roster who at least has 2 years experience as an SEC starter at Vandy and also spent a year at LSU as a backup and another year as a starter at App St. Is Puckett really a better option? Is Swann hurt?

so is Puckett. We're talking about a backup QB at MS State. I don't think anyone expects them to have a ringer just waiting to play. But they also shouldn't have to resort to starting a walk-on unless several QBs are hurt.

My guess would be that the walk on has been the better player

I assumed that was your guess, which is why I asked a MS State fan about the situation who wouldn't need to guess why Puckett is playing.
