That guy is probably playing a 7.5 degree and wondering why his drives suck.

I play a 9 degree R11 TP,the 10.5 hits higher than the lower degree clubs,thus less distance,frick my 3 wood is just a 13 degree...

your 3 wood is also 42.5 inches. Rule of thumb for your driver...The higher is goes the farther it goes.
If your swing is consistant then the distance is not judged by the height. You could basically hit the ball the same distance with a 5* driver as with a 10.5* driver. It only matters how you want the ball to reach its final destination, all carry or all roll!

The 10.5 degree driver is more forgiving,is it not?
If so,then why are so few people hitting them?

all drivers are conforming to USGA and R&A standards...no one driver is more forgiving than the next!
Watch the Tournament this afternoon and tell me how high the professionals hit the ball with the pro tracer thing!

Any pros hit a 10.5 degree driver?

Tiger is hitting a 10.5 currently...Saw it at the WGA Cadillac Championship. Others as well, there are a few that hit 12* drivers (Mark Wilson)

People who should be using a TP driver should be using a 9.5 or less.

Drivers are the most subjective club in the bag! It's all about what you want the club to do...Hit it high and not get much roll...or hit it low with a shite ton of roll!

Woods is playing a 8.5 Nike VRTour. Wilson must playing an older model club where you use to get the higher loft with a heavier shaft with a high kickpoint to bring the ball lower by the shaft. Technology has learned its better for more distance for lower loft heads with low kick shafts now. I remember when I played with Howell in 2002 or 03 he had an 11 degree and would launch it so low.

Yea but if you cant put the right amount of backspin causing you go with a 10.5, you shouldnt get a tp club which will be heavier thus lowering clubhead speed and spin even more.

Beaver do you work at beaver creek? I think i played it once when I was in town. Pretty good track.

Why? If the spin rate and launch angle are ideal with 10.5* TP model, guess which one I'm going to use!

You will be losing distance tho. If it takes a 10.5 to get that right, you should get a lighter club/shaft and increase your spin rate by increasing your ball speed.

Tiger must have had that driver in his bag for that course...It did look like a pretty old driver for Wilson (G10 or so)!
Yeah I work out here!

With his older driver he was playing a 10 beaver. Not sure when he changed.
