Sports journalists are the most self important jackasses alive. I reiterate that if we eliminated all color commentators and analysts nothing would be lost except dumb hot takes.

Joel Klatt had long-time rules analyst Mike Pereira on his podcast this morning. The segment starts around the 4:45 mark in the video. However, bottom line up front: the replay officials in Chicago failed to notice the discrepancy between their clock and the broadcast clock. Replay analysts are trained to use the broadcast clock if there is such a discrepancy.

In the grand scheme of this year, no. Michigan is going to get their asses kicked. But it would have matted to those WMU guys for the rest of their lives. It was stolen from them.
