quote:

Gonos stepped towards Manziel and was promptly punched in the face, the alleged victim's account to police says, followed by a beat down by Manziel's crew, giving the man a "swollen lip, right eye swollen, red face." A security guard intervened and also was hurt.

quote:

(My brother) just came to help me out, and I guess Johnny sucker punched him while the security guard was holding him. It should be all on video.

I imagine most famous people wouldn't react positively to a stranger approaching them for a hug without asking; however, it looks bad because he had a game, a big one, on sunday and he could've been needed. Secondly, having an "entourage" is never good.

of course, he's in a no win situation. How can he defend himself without getting in trouble? Goodell will say it's his fault because he wasn't home sleeping or watching netflix

but it's true...the line has repeatedly been "you put yourself in this situation"

I just don't know what a player is supposed to do in that situation.

Imagine if some crazy dude just came up to hug you and looked crazy, drunk, etc.

One thing is for sure, the dude who got beat down probably isn't the biggest Johnny Football fan anymore

Leave celebs alone unless it's a specific situation for it. I'd hate the attention that comes with stardom.

if a stranger approaches me like that, it would definitely get violent

there are some crazy people out there, who knows what that guy may have had in mind

Why would they get pissed off that Manziel was at an apartment complex on a Friday night?

they won't, they'll punish him for fighting, and they won't care about self defense..."nothing good happens past midnight" That old line

I hear you, but the reality of it all is that Johnny has zero capital in the court of public opinion. He spent it all being an arse for the past 2.5 years.

If this was Andrew Luck, or Bortles, or Bridgewater or [insert any young QB here] we'll immediately assume self defense and shrug it off because these guys haven't done anything to make us suspect otherwise.

A grown man wants to
quote:

give an unsolicited drunken hug to
a decidedly younger man.

If Johnny thought he was about to be felt up by a pedophile, he had the right to react in a way to secure he own safety.

The drunk creep who wanted to hug him needs to learn how to act in public/around other men/around celebrities, etc.

Johnny Douchebags strikes me as the type that would gang rush a small group of people and then high five for winning 5 on 2.

It's to the point where I wouldn't be surprised to see him quit playing football in order to start a reality show

He lives there, but its also has a club and a bar in it. He was at da club with da crew. Shouldnt have been out at 230 AM the weekend of a game.

Johnny comes off as a punk.

Ok which Aggie downvoted me?!

I'd have an issue with a stranger coming in for a hug as well. Plus, he was probably drunk as eff.

What does this guy look like? If he's strange looking (and has a troubling history), then I can understand the overreaction.
