That was an epic race, can't imagine seeing it in person. My first Cup race was Jeff's Million Dollar Date Win at the Southern 500 in 97. That was also the race Dale was "abducted by aliens."

Sucks Jeff is leaving, but I pretty much stopped watching in recent years. I wasn't a fan of the chase and definitely hate the playoff system.

Yea the chase is total garbage in all honesty, I've accepted that it's here to stay and it is entertaining but it's not the best way to crown the best driver for the year

Contrary to popular opinion among many longtime fans, I'm a HUGE fan of the Chase. Gives the end of the year a true "tournament" feel and the drama is palpable 
Well, I'll give ya maybe one of those (07 comes to mind), but let's be honest--guys race down the stretch much differently than they did in the past. All things remaining equal, Jeff would have more titles, but the problem is that things wouldn't have remained equal, you know?

Agreed, although I wish last year had ended differently for Jeff, I cannot deny that the format greatly increased the excitement level of the chase. Now the format for the chase prior to last year? :yak:

I agree. Still liked that better than the old points system, though.
This "elimination" style of racing is captivating as hell, though
hope they keep this system for a long time.

2nd greatest driver of my generation.
