The other side of that is teams have to agree to play them, they can’t just “schedule” whoever they want. Also note Florida State did schedule 2 SEC teams last year and we’re still criticized for their schedule

They go from getting into a bowl they don't deserve to being a warmup game for a legit playoff team.
