Saw bits of this one at one of my local bars...i have to admit it was interesting to see. I certainly would like to learn more about the sport.

It's a great game, I'm still learning myself. Heypaul or Sophandros would be good resources if you want to learn more about the game.

thanks

I also know a few friends who have played, but yeah, still do not know much about it. It's cool, though.

We were terrible in the scrums, played like a bunch of undisciplined children at the breakdowns, and allowed too many line breaks.

I'm focusing on the latter two because our national side coach is a defensive coach. These are things that can be corrected and he will fix them.

Now, regarding our overall lack of team speed...

Holy shite! Wish I read this before today. HeyPaul - I was right in front of you. Turned around once and wondered how someone liked LSU and the Red Sox. I was in a pink jersey.

I agree. Seemed like Ireland was going through the motions in the backline. We committed too many to the rucks and were constantly overloaded. Our scrums look like garbage too.

ETA: can we please end the Eric Fry experiment!

I saw you!

That's pretty cool, small world eh!??

My buddy's 11 year old son
(who has limited exposer to the game)
basically asked the same two questions.

how come they kept messing up the scrum, and he and my daughter wanted to know where 'the fast guys like in football' were?

Didn't get to see the game cause internet streams weren't working. Somebody finally put up a torrent last night but I'll have to wait till later to see it.

By the score looks like they not only kept it competitive but even had a chance to win it. Hopefully they keep the momentum going against Tonga this weekend. It's awesome that the USA has been added to the international touring calendar. It can only improve the quality of play and in turn the sports popularity here.

Saw the other internationals this weekend nothing too exciting Lions vs Reds and France vs New Zealand were the best matches. Only real upset if you can call it one was Samoa vs Scotland. Samoa is the better team but they've never beaten the Scots before so that's why I say it's an upset.
