Ok tehn Dirk needs to try something besides the fade-away.

Yeah - that's a pretty good call. STOP doing what he's being doing for the past 12 years. Just stop. Now. While he's playing the best offensive basketball of his career. Yep. He should just stop...so he can get more offensive rebounds.

You know what's better than an offensive rebound? Making the fricking shot in the first place.

quote:

He is top 20 but saying anything besides that would be just stupid.

One of the top players of all time = top 20. Hell, it would equal top 50-100. There have been thousands of players come through the NBA.

quote:

Not really. He choked in 2006 and 2007. Hee is having a great run THIS year, but you are going overboard here.

He still put up good numbers in the finals in 2006, just at a low shooting percentage. He was the ONLY mavs player who didn't COMPLETELY shite the bed after game 2. Let's not forget how the mavs got there in the first place. Dirk beat the Spurs and Suns with some of the best ball you'll ever see. He averaged 27 points and 12 rebounds per game in the 2006 playoffs. 2007 was horrid. I'll give you that.

So in 11 years of playing in the playoffs, dirk has had exactly ONE postseason where he didn't score over 20 pts per game (2007). And in those 11 years he's averaged 10.4 rebounds per game. And he's the only player not named Tim Duncan, Shaq, or Kobe to lead their team to the NBA finals out of the western conference.

But yeah, sure, whatever you say. He sucks in the playoffs. This is the first year he's ever done anything, what, with his 28/8 line. It's not like he averaged: 28/13, 25/12, 26/12, 24/10, 27/12, 27/12, 27/10, 27/8...nope. none of that stuff EVER happened.

Quietly hoping for a trade. But back on topic.

Dirk had an excellent first half Tuesday. He did everything he could to draw contact, and he got the call every time but one. Made his 8 ft's of course.

The problem is that miami's defense in the 2nd half kept him from getting the ball, and since he's no nearly as nimble awayfrom the ball as say, Reggie Miller, this renders Dirk ineffective.

Dallas is in trouble if Miami can defend like that consistently. That's why a big man like Dirk needs to hone an inside game as well as an outside game. A one-dimensional player, while difficult against whom to compete, is easy to figure out.

And yes, if he pulls it off, I'll be ver happy for him. He's great and will have earned it. I just can't see it happening.

Words can't describe how shitty a poit you've just made. Hakeem guarded Shaq in his prime and embarrassed him. Dirk can't guard a broom.

You need to give it a rest, goober.

You're the one that said fade-aways were pussyrific.

Well then you need to quit being a bitch. His shot is an all-time great, But you are right MAKE THE SHOT, and if you don't at least fight for a rebound.

Name a 7 footer in the NBA who has a more well-rounded offensive game than Dirk Nowitzki. He posts up VERY efficiently, he has an unstoppable mid-range game, and he is a good 3 point shooter. Dude, just stop.

Yeah if that's all you've got. Hakeem was a great defender and above-average rebounder. 3.5 blocks, 11.2 boards for his career. Defense was the best part of his game. Twice defensive player of the year, 5x defensive first team, 4x defensive 2nd team.

You really need to shut up, goober. Or better yet, post some YouTube videos of Dirk's defensive highlights.

Tim Duncan. Great midrange shooter, great on the boards, AMAZING at getting the opposing center in foul trouble, and a genius when getting away with a slightly illegal pick away from the ball. Passing was about as good as Dirk's.

For these same reasons, I'd say Kareem was a better offense player as well.

Dirk is an elite shooter. He is a really good offensive player.

Dirk is averaging over 10 rebounds for his career in the playoffs and 9-10 FT's per game during this playoff run yet these fools think he's strictly a jump shooter

just butthurt Hornet fan.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. Seriously? You brought up Dirk needing to broaden his repertoire, and THIS is what you come up with? I said who is a more well-rounded seven footer in the NBA...as in NOW. And Duncan's an absolute SHELL of his former self. He's degenerating fastly. Dirk's been a superior player since 2005, IMO. But he's absolutely a MUCH better player now.

Kareem? If we're getting into ALL-TIME, that's a whole other conversation. I'm asking if there are any other 7 footers in the NBA TODAY that have anywhere CLOSE to as well rounded of a game as Dirk.

Dirk is an elite offensive player.

Ya know I really would like to see the Mavs win the series, for KIDD and Terry and Dirk, But I will get GREAT JOY in all your excuses when they lose. Sorry Ghazi. The HEAT are just better.

Okay. How? Shoot fade-away from 15+ feet. Get composure around 18ft. Okay, he's 18ft from the basket. There are at least 3-5 people closer to the ball from where he would have "landed." Explain to me how he can get that missed shot?

You said that he's played great in the playoffs THIS year, as if to say he's never played great in the playoffs before. Stop backtracking, old man.

I assumed you meant all-time. Duncan in his prime and Kareem in his prime are both more well-rounded offensive players than Dirk in his prime (now).

Shoot More than a fade-away. Its pretty simple. If he was as versitle as you say, he should get as many points inside as outside. Think about it.
