In the more advanced analytics it’s not considered to be bad on the QB (PFF uses “Turnover worthy play”)

They should also take away those TDs from QBs who basically hand-off the ball to a WR in motion who sweeps & turns the corner for a TD. But bc it was technically a one-foot forward pass that the WR took 50 yds down the sidelines, the QB gets credit for the long TD & QBR numbers boost.

In theory you could record it as a completion and a fumble, but then you have to make a judgment on whether it was a perfect pass.
Plus it doesn't account for a receiver falling down and letting a defender play centerfield.
