you obviously know nothing about swimming outside of the little bit you see every 4 years. brendan hansen at trials choked, mary descenza at trials choked, eric vendt at trials choked...need i go on?

you are right. i dont know that much about swimming. some of these swimmers choked. you just dont see the complete melt downs as you do in other sports. you hardly ever hear "that swimmer cant win the big one" as you do in other sports.

i think that's b/c swimming is less covered so you only hear about the winners. If swimming was a huge nationally popular sport Brendan Hansen would be thought of like Phil Mickelson, Greg Norman, Peyton before he won, Tracy McGrady, etc.

maybe but it seems like the winners are always the same people. it seems like i am always hearing, "this guy hasn't lost this race in 3 years."

Most of the best swimmers in the world have been swimming in "big" meets (big being relative to how old you are) since they were about 8 years old. I think they are just used to the pressure.

And I don't think Katie Hoff choked...fourth place is very respectable.

Also, if Phelps loses one of the next races, I don't see that as choking either. I think Crocker is favored more in the 100 butterfly than Phelps is.
