I've been waiting a long time for a #16 to beat a #1, and it finally happened.

The closest I've seen a #16 come to pulling it off was Fairfield vs Kansas in either 96 or 97. Fairfield forced overtime, but couldn't finish the job.

Congrats UMBC!

that 6th man breaking his wrist was the best thing that could have happened for me. I had them in the final 4 in all of my brackets and winning one. Then all the Virginia fans came on here melting and I took them out of all of my final fours

Well that’s good, because nobody else cares about your stupid bracket either.

The Fairfield game was in '97. They had a halftime lead against UNC. UNC took the lead in the second half with under 10 minutes to go and won 82-74 in regulation.

Hey, PJ. I'm good.

I feel kinda bad for my friends who are UVa grads, but they'll get over it. While they were the top #1 seed, I thought a good offensive team could beat them. I just never thought it would be UMBC in the first round. I was thinking Arizona or Kentucky in the Sweet 16. No 16 would stand a chance this season against Nova, Xavier, or Kansas.

UVA plays a style that won't allow them to win an NCAA Tournament. It reminds me of Tubby and his early 00's UK teams. It was all fine until you ran into an athletic team that started hitting shots and you can't score.

Beautiful dogs. Not as good as the Lab at swimming. Personality among dog breeders is 'the happy drunk.'

Both teams played pretty ugly in the first half (21-21). Virginia couldn't hit water if they fell out of a boat in the 2nd and UMBC had the best half of their season.

I'm guessing that UVa would beat UMBC 19 out of 20 times. It's too bad for them that the loss came in the NCAA. I'm sure they feel pretty shitty about it and I tip my cap to UMBC.
