Bruce Bochy and the Texas Rangers have reached an agreement and Bochy's three year managerial tenure with the team is over.

Something is fricked up in Dallas. First the Mavs get rid of their all-star best player in Luks Doncic, then the Cowboys trade away Micah Parsons, their best defensive players. I guess the Rangers chose to blow up their team to keep pace with the sports decline in Dallas.

In the case of the Rangers I think it is pretty obvious they spent an uncomfortable amount of money over a couple off seasons and don’t want that payroll level to be the norm going forward. They cut by quite a bit before this year if I’m not mistaken and the GM discussed it when announcing this

If Bochy still wants to manage I would think it would be back in SF

I get that, but you don't easily replace a legend like Bochy. I know. "That's baseball."

Obvious landing spot if he still has the fire

The replacement manager is (allegedly) already in the organization. Bochy has been offered a role in the front office. Hell of a career for Bochy.

Bochy stepping down.

I think this is the crux of it.

Lots of openings elsewhere. Bochy, while still a great manager is getting older, could retire at any time and the Rangers don’t want to lose their guy. Kudos to them for being proactive. I hope Jim Crane is taking note.

Skip Schumaker would be a good fit for what the Rangers are trying to do. And he is already in the building. The openings last year were brutal rebuilds, so he decided to wait. The Rangers would be a good fit for his style.
