Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh has another unique idea.

U-M is attempting to hold a portion of its spring football practice in Florida at the IMG Academy, according to a person with knowledge of the plans but is not authorized to speak publicly.

The news was first reported by TheWolverine.com.

While a Michigan official was unable to comment at this time, the plan makes sense.

IMG Academy is located in Bradenton, Fla. and has dorm-style rooms and small apartments available plus multiple football fields on its campus. There is also a common dining hall area for the team to eat if necessary.

the dude is trying to set up shop at IMG Academy. No way the NCAA should allow this. It's not like they have a bowl game in the area and are practicing there for a justified reason.

I don't really have a problem with it, but Harbaugh is def going to piss people off with this. I don't want to hear from big 10 fans about how they don't play the same recruiting game either now with Harbaugh and Meyer.

Harbaugh did this last year hosting camps for high school kids in the southeast. Teams use high schools during bowl practices and have "chosen wisely" in the past as to what high schools they'll use

Because LSU and every other SEC team recruit IMG Academy hard. I think we have 2 or 3 commits from there right now even.

Yeah, it is. If you can't see the benefit of a college team having spring camp at a high school that consistently puts out highly rated recruits then you're just burying your head in the sand.

FTR, I wouldn't have an issue with Michigan having camp in Florida...just not at a high school... that just seems like an unfair recruiting advantage.

Well the recruiting game is absolutely different. You can't drive 4-5 hours to go unofficially visit 4-6 B1G school from Florida or Georgia like you can in SEC/ACC. B1G schools trying to get kids from the south have to get in early and, if that kid isn't well off, get the kid to take an official.

I'm not saying what Harbaugh is doing should be allowed, but it's a different recruiting game absolutely

Would they have this set up where classes aren't currently going on? Like around spring break?

Is there anyway a state's legislation could stop this?

That is the only way to do it in the spring. Would be kind of pointless though if IMG was on spring break as well though
