Since I didn't want to start another thread I'll say this here

So often has occurred over the past few days of LSU "fans" saying they "don't care" or
"..I'm not bent out of shape as an LSU fan as much as I am due to being a Louisianian... To me it's not about LSU.." (SouthOfSOuth) or "The inferiority complex in lafayette is at it's boiling point" (BugAC) "Well, it's not like my day is affected by it or anything. I just find the inferiority complex ULL has been having over the last few years is a little absurd"
Or like this guy "Because we're residents of Louisiana. We don't want a piss poor school and athletic program to falsely brand itself as the flagship or a main school" (GreatLakesTIger24)which probably never went there or LSU for that matter and feels the need to cut down ULL, why??? If you look at facts, ULL is a fine university academically and nice plans athletically for a program looking to be on the rise. (I'll get to why people feel the need too cut ULL down) But this statement is dumb. You look at Kansas University, Kansas State doesn't care, Ohio? Ohio Sate doesn't care, the list goes on. The better question is why do some LSU people care if there is a Louisiana University. No way ULL would be the flagship university so why does it matter. The matter has zero to do with LSU so it was really hard to figure out why some LSU fans cared so much. Like a lot.

Also ULL doesn't want to change it's name to University of Louisiana more just change it's athletic branding to Louisiana Ragin Cajuns. I guess from reading it's like changing there names from the Ragin Cajuns to the Lousiana Ragin Cajuns which is legal in the bylaws of the legislature.

After reading countless threads and doing research while waiting on a job at work there is a conclusion to this.
IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH ULM AND EVERYTHING TO DO WITH LSU. This would be the exact same is ULM tried to change their name to University of Louisiana. ULM though seems to have a number of financial issues to deal with in every aspect of their university. They have the lowest budget of any FBS athletic program in the Sun Belt and the Stat. Like the writer in the paper for ULM is a LSU grad. Yes I said it and it is true whether the so called "die hard" rantards want to believe it or not. Most ULM fans do not care because saying ULM is a lot easier than saying ULL. None of their university officials or coaches care as per the article written in their local new paper, WHICH was written by an LSU grad.... what do you know.

There is a reason in 1999 legislature wouldn't let USL be UL and NorthEastern (NLU for the young retards who are to young to remember) like stay NorthEastern like they wanted. Because Legislature is also has a lot of LSU grads being as LSU has a big law school and most legislature are lawyers. It seems that a number of LSU fans do not want competition in the state. They do not want an in state rival like other states because it might take away some of the spot light. It would take away some of the marketing and money towards LSU. This is more about money and LSU not wanting to share their market than ULM vs ULL. The thought of it makes some so angry I imagine they could kick a baby cat. If LSU ever lost to ULL in football they would have a meltdown (ULL has beat them and is competitive with them in other sports) but the thought of having to share a State name drives LSU fans crazy.
I for one think it would be awesome to have more growth in the state college field. I'm not a college fan myself but I think it would be healthy for the State and keep more kids in the State. But then O NO! LSU might lose some recruits to ULL... but they already lose them to Alabama so what does it matter? No idea.... this is the only thing I can come up with while trying to understand the mind of a rantard. That they are afraid. As ridiculous as that sounds they are afraid of another university ever coming close to taking any lime light.

As a taxpayer, my opinion is that a school named "University of Louisiana" should be academically worthy of that designation. ULL isn't. Now it's not all their fault...they only get so much in appropriation and they have a mission to educate Acadiana to fullfill. But that's what the owners of the school decided the mission should be. Further, they still divert $7 million or so from the general fund/academics, to the football team, so it's not like academics is their number 1 priority.
