your hero is a fraud.

i really, really hope there is a rematch. But, Penn's camp will not pursue the vaseline issue b/c then a rematch might be called for.....and it would mean near death for BJ. they know this.

If they did in fact cheat, GSP knew exactly what was going on and was okay with it.

I went back and watched the second round, BJ's calves kept slipping off of GSP's shoulder blades AND WHERE WAS THE VASELINE PLACED? On GSP's shoulder blades. Would have been next to impossible for BJ to pull out a submission.

Some guy on Sherdog did a test on this. First he got a good sweat going and got put in rubber and high guard.

Then he applied a small amount of vasoline between his shoulder blades and to his lats. Repeat rubber/high guard test. It said it was virtually impossible for his buddy to maintain these guards and he passed at ease.

Then he wiped off all vasoline off of him and his buddy's legs. Repeat guard test. He said once he started sweating again the residue became slick as shite again.

I thought it was. I honestly don't remember where he said he applied it, I thought I remembered Nurse applying it to GSP's lats.

quote:

“Mr. Penn’s most critical offensive and defensive strategies, his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, were rendered useless as he was unable to effectively control [St. Pierre] and engage his submission techniques due to Mr. Penn’s legs and arms slipping out of the attempted holds/locks and [St. Pierre’s] ability to readily slip out of the holds/locks due to the highly slippery surfaces on [St. Pierre’s] body,” wrote Penn’s attorney, Raffi A. Nahabedian.

in the video posted a while back it showed the trainer rubbing a spot btn his shoulder blades. he never touched his lats, which would be the primary control area for Penn.

I'm sure it was a very scientific test, and they were completely surprised by the results..

Matt Hughes-

quote:

“I’m not saying GSP did something wrong and I’m not saying that it would have changed any outcomes of any fights; but what I am saying is, for my last two fights against Georges, he felt greasy,” read a post on Hughes’ Web site on Tuesday.

Like I said I don't remember where the guy said he applied it for his test run. But didn't nurse put vasoline on GSP's face then run his hands down his neck, around his lats to his shoulders repeatedly.

I'll look for a gif.

he used to be my favorite fighter. Coming into this fight i considered GSP and BJ about tied for my favorites. I now hate BJ b/c he AGAIN failed to show up in proper shape. He talked all kinds of shite for months about his training, GSP's heart, how you are a bitch if you quit during a fight, etc....then he shows up out of shape, afraid, and quits.

I like shite talking when it's backed up.

i HATE shite talking that is hypocritical and not backed up....and i really hate excuses after you are dominated.

i lost all respect for Penn. this isn't the first time conditioning has cost him, it was my last straw.

Not saying it was consumer reports, just saying what was posted.

The letter, penned by Penn's lawyer, Raffi A. Nahabedian, states the notice is not a formal complaint.

Boom, a chance to use it as an excuse and be able to say they didn't use it as excuse later.

think it it was face, shoulder, then more attention to the mid back. don't think he went down to his lats. GSP's arms were down, would be tough to get to that spot.

I lost some respect for him after that beatdown, but I still like like him. I can't really disagree with your comments though. How can this guy not get in tip top shape? I just don't understand.

No it's a request for investigation, which is what I said originally.

quote:

B.J. Penn’s attorney submitted a formal request for investigation to the Nevada State Athletic Commission on Tuesday surrounding allegations that Penn’s opponent, Georges St. Pierre, was illegally “greased up” during their welterweight championship rematch bout last Saturday at UFC 94

If Penn actually felt his legs slipping off because of vasoline he would have 1.) complained during the fight and 2.) actually filed a formal complaint instead of bullshite posturing.
