They misspelled “Miami”. But anyways:
There’s already 4 byes in the playoff. The conference championship game teams are playing for a shot at those bye slots.
So it’s not like the teams sitting this week out have an advantage by not playing. They will all still have to go thru the full playoff. While at least the winners of OSU/IU, Georgia/Alabama, BYU/Texas Tech will all get byes in the 1st round.
Having a play in week for the other teams is definitely a reasonable idea though.

He’s just advocating for another round to the playoff. Effectively making it around a 20 team playoff.

Why shouldn’t you have to win an extra game to get the benefit of a bye? You should have to do something to literally get a free round of the playoffs

Just spread out the bowl games as playoff games.
Lower tier bowls are 1st round playoff games like the New Orleans Bowl. Higher rounds games get bowls like the Independence and Music City Bowl. Quarterfinals, Semifinals, and championships are your top tier bowls like Sugar, Orange, Rose, and Peach Bowls.
You also get rid of meaningless bowl matchups that only half the team plays since it is a check and swag bag game for the players and athletic departments.

Bc the team’s performance during the season should earn them a bye. Having to play an extra game just to skip a game defeats the purpose.
