Do you officiate? Looks like you know a lil bit more rhan some of us.

I'm this situation, could none of the other refs overrule the line judge? Seems like even if he got it wrong, someone else could have clearly saw the ball never cross the end zone.

Yes I do. 15 years as a SJ w/GHSA.

It was actually on the HLJ's side

The only other 2 officials who could of seen him cross or not cross in that situation would be the U and/or the LJ. And since the run was on the HLJ's side it was his call and the LJ wouldn't of had a good view either way due to where the run was and really only the U could of helped out in that situation. But the U is NEVER supposed to signal a TD in a goal-line situation. He can give help(both of his open hands on his chest or a nod of the head that the runner crossed) but the ultimate call is up to the wings. IDK if the U came over the radio or not and said anything. I can actually probably find out and let you know. But in that situation it's all on the corresponding side's wing to make the call.

My guess: The HLJ wasn't lined up w/the pylon like he was supposed to be. From the 5 and in, the wings move immediately to the pylon at the snap and work back out, but being on the 1, one shuffle would put them on the pylon. He was either not on the pylon or he was a step off of it at an angle. And that will mess up your view. There is a reason goal-line mechanics are so vital.

Edited to add: Just got confirmation that the HLJ was on the pylon and crashed down w/his arms up signaling a TD. So I don't know what he saw. He may of confused the SC lineman, who crossed the GL, for the runner. Regardless, that's inexcusable and that HJ may of just called his last game and I can assure you that that crew is never working another final.

The video has gone viral.

Hey GHSA, how about spending some of that $600k you save from not playing in the Benz and get replay review for the state title games.

It was voted on prior to the season and it was voted down. That might obviously change after what has happened tonight.

And the finals are back at MBS next year

Have they already announced that the finals are back at MBS? I knew there was discussion but never saw anything else.

Yes. It's pretty much a fait accompli.

The contract is supposedly being signed on Monday.

Yep.

And it's been a huge success.

Started in 2020 w/40 teams, that number has quadrupled in just 2 years.

Mill Creek doubles up Carrollton, 70-35 to win their first state championship and wrap up the 2022 high school football season in Georgia and the last state championship games held at Center Parc(Old Turner Field) Stadium. Next year they will be heading back home under the roof at MBS.
