Just heard about George Wright, former MLB player. He was about to be cut by the Texas Rangers in ‘82. Mickey Rivers faked a hamstring injury so the Rangers would have to keep him to start the season on the roster. George grew up in Oklahoma City and had never attended an MLB game. His first game was @ Cleveland where he went 3-4 with a double and home run. He went on to play four seasons in the majors.
