And that guys like Morneau are even or better in every statistical category. And Morneau doesn't play in Yankee stadium, if you want to count that.

I hope the Yankees eventually piss everyone off and acquire Mauer.

Joe Mauer

2007- .293/.382/.426 .808 OPS
2008- .328/.413/.451 .864 OPS
2009- .383/.413/.653 1.101 OPS

Brian McCann
2006- .333/.388/.572 .961 OPS
2007- .270/.320/.452 .772 OPS
2008- .301/.373/.523 .896 OPS
2009- .283/.357/.488 .846 OPS

So, Mauer has him bested in avg. and OBP while McCan has him in Slugging and OPS?

They are both great. But like I said, to say no one is close to Mauer offensively from the catcher position is a bit off.

McCann is definitely close, if not better in some categories. If not the most important one - rbi.

Yea that would be great. But he is a home grown kid. I doubt it happens, especially with the new ballpark the Twins are buidling. I think he stays there for a while, if not his whole career.

For what? The OP implied there's no catcher in all of baseball that can produce offensively like he does.

as far as i know, MVP voting doesnt take in to account previous years, so why the hell are you trying to make an argument with stats from the previous 4 years

McCann bested him in OPS twice out of the 4 years, you can't say McCann "has him" in that category.

The numbers are also very close but deceptive
Mauer
06- 140 games played
07- 109 games played
08- 146 games played
09- 93 games played

McCann
06- 130
07- 139
08- 145
09- 97

Even a better case for McCann. He's more durable.

Also, the year he played 109, he would have to more than double his HRs in 30 games to tie McCann that year. In 08, McCann hit more jacks in basically the same amount of time.

Mauer is having the better year this year though.

Alright, well then I looked at your statement wrong. I thought you meant considered over their careers, in their prime, currently.

For only this season, then yes, Mauer is having a better year.

I can't believe this is even an argument. No catcher is in Mauer's neighborhood.

Not close to the most important category. Depends on many factors that are out of the player's control (where does the manager put him in the lineup, is his team terrible or great offensively for two).

I am not sure how those numbers show he is more durable. When the only season McCann has more games played is 07. I am not going to include this year cause well anything can happen. At the moment McCann has played in more because Mauer missed beginning of season.

Actually, the stat Mauer is best at, average, is one of the least important stats in baseball.

RBI = Runs scored. You score runs to win games.

Mauer can go 3 for 4 all day and drive in no one. He could hit .500 and help his team win zero games.

Yeah, if the Twins make the playoffs. And that isn't happening.
