With Maurice commentating it'd be way more watchable than that World of Poker and Strongman crap.

If anyone doesnt know anything about Chess, Jerry is really good at breaking stuff down into simple terms. Good analysis and good commentary

Im sure somewhere you can. Ding Liren and Caruana are the two favorites.

First round starts in about 6 hours. I'm actually pretty excited, it's a rare moment for the best GMs in the world to have their moment to shine in the spotlight with all the other sports shut down.

Woooooow Ding Liren was upset by Wang Hao. Day 1 and already a major upset

Caruana/Vachier-Lagrave played to a draw, as did Alekseenko/Grischuk

Still waiting on the result of Nepomniachtchi/Giri, Nepo has the advantage and should win it looks like

And Nepo gets the win with a crazy endgame. What a good first day!

For anyone interested, theres a guy on youtube called Agadmator that does a good job of reviewing games. Hes put up reviews of the two games that didnt end in a draw today, including Giri vs. Nepo which was a really wild game.

Nepo vs. Giri Round 1 analysis

Ding Liren vs Wang Hao round 1 review

For those of you who were able to get it, congratulations, you are an excellent endgame player, and for those of you who just want to watch the show...

He definitely has his trademark phrases but he does a good job especially with reviewing historical games and important players and the context behind the matches.

I know there's a lot of Louisiana folk on the board, he goes into some Paul Morphy games too and talks about his life and chess career starting in New Orleans while waiting until he was old enough to practice law.

I've probably watched close to 50 of his videos, love that guy. His Fischer series is great.

Caruana is in complete control against Alekseenko. Not surprising since Alek is the weakest of the 8 participants and Fabi is the favorite to win, but you never know. But looks like he'll notch his 1st win in the 2nd round.

Grischuk and Nepo agree to a draw.

Alek resigns, so Caruana indeed wins.

Ding Liren just blundered and is in serious danger of losing his first 2 games. Man, what a rough start for him after being considered the 2nd man to beat after Caruana. Feel bad for the guy.

As I post this, Ding resigns. So he starts off the tourney with 2 losses. Just wow.

Wang had a decent advantage earlier this game but Giri has held strong and it may be heading to a draw now. Still a little ways to go but it'd have been wild if Wang was able to win his first 2 games and be the outright leader. Still a chance to happen but doesnt look like it will

And it's a draw. Wang had his chances but couldnt close the deal. Still, hes tied for the lead and is a decent surprise so far, he was definitely underestimated going into this

That Rook-Knight tandem from Giri

Tbh I was wondering why Wang didn't exchange rooks earlier, he had the initiative and a passed B pawn that he could have pushed a bit to keep Giri's pieces occupied. But he let Giri keep it on the board, and like you said that rook caused problems for Wang once the knight got involved.

Ding vs. Caruana tomorrow is the main event especially now that Ding is still at 0 after 2 rounds. A Ding win could fuel a comeback, and a Caruana win would all but put a fork in Ding for this tournament which would be disappointing considering how hyped he was going in.
