Voters gave their own top 10 players at a position, then we compiled the results and ranked candidates based on the number of top-10 votes, composite average and dozens of interviews, with research and film study help from ESPN NFL analyst Matt Bowen as well as ESPN Research.
It's a list of rankings, why do they need to do interviews and film studies to create a top 10 list from the experts?

Overall, the position is much deeper than it was a year ago. Fifteen passers appeared on at least 30% of the ballots
They use this statistic to show how deep the position is, I think it's a reflection of how little talent there is at the QB position and why there is so much fluctuation outside of the top 5

Saying Caleb is a top 10 QB is hilarious, but then when you look at who else is out there you realize that he really isn't that far off from a top 10 QB. Like Dak, he always gets this boost in his ratings (must be the "interviews") because they really want them to be much higher than they should be ranked.

Caleb at 10 is fricking hilarious.
No kidding! This time next year he'll be top 5, maybe top 3 on the list.
