Could they make it any more obvious how bad of a decision betting on sports could possibly be? They literally bombard every sports podcast with 100 to 1 odds sign up bonuses (for new customers only of course).

You really have to wonder how effective it is advertising on all these sports shows that probably share 90% of the same listeners

Michigan went live in January and it's like the wild west here. One night of the NCAA tournament, the first three ads before airing were MGM, Fanduel, and Barstool.

I think the promos are more about competition than their advantage versus the individual. When you have ten books to choose from, what gets you in the door?

Sports betting has been legal in my state since November. I am up more than $4000 with virtually no risk playing the promotions smartly. They make their money from people who drop $500 on a Tuesday night MAC game. The casual bettor should actually profit given how insanely good the draftkings promotions are in a typical week.

I’m pretty sure draftkings Sportsbook is operating at a healthy loss, they are trying to capture market share. The promotions will start drying up.

Yes if you’re in a legal gambling state it’s a no brainer to use the promos at different books, they’ll dry up at some point so get in while you can.

Some of the sites have started limiting my personal promo use, MGM has basically cut me off.

TwinSpires has some really good ones.

it wasn't the same ad but back when Fanduel first started coming around they had promos running over and over again on the station I listened to.

finally I decided to take a stab at it and just so happened to win a decent amount of money the first time I played.

hook-line- and sinker.

I've been playing on DK and fanduel ever since.

again not actually betting games but just fantasy football for money.

in a way i wish i hadn't have won my first time.

it's very hard to win consistently even on fantasy football and thats picking who ever you want each week.

Yeah that's harder than sports betting cuz the same 1% sharps make a lot of entries and win most of the prize money

Yeah, just yesterday DK had a free 5.14 bet. I used it and won. Of course, that isn't any big money, but it makes a game fun to watch, or at least someone to root for.

I started doing this with UFC fights. I don't know anything about most of these fighters. I pick the name I like and put $5 on them.

Makes it a little fun. It's like a roulette spin. Yes, there are you and I who bet $5 or $20 a spin... then there is that guy betting $1,800 a spin and constantly running to the ATM.

Both want customers, and there is a way for those who don't gamble to get paid and walk away.

When they open in a state they offer a 1 time play, where they will cover your loss up to 1K. So, you and a buddy open up accounts, put 1K in, both bet a game, each taking the other side.

1 guy wins on winning side
1 guy loses, but gets his free play back.

And since they are trying to get people to stay and play, they aren't forcing you to keep money in account, like most online services do, so you both withdraw and split the 900ish your buddy won with his bet.

I know people who did this for draft kings, fanduel, and another Illinois gambling service. They made a 450+ a piece(with each service, so 450 x3, each) and got out next day.(took 5 days to get paid with one service)

The hope for them is that you get hooked and keep on betting.

That should be on every ad and every website before you start spending money you don't need to be losing.

Loser mentality. They normally offer some heavy favorites at great odds promos

No, it's called taking advantage of a free lost bet promo.

the great odds promos on majority of sites have stipulations on bets you have to make later, days you have to keep in account ,etc

this is a new account, taking advantage of book play. Both made over 1,300 for depositing money, making bet, and taking cash back out.

But it's only 1 time play, and have to make sure to check the rules, as most do have stipulations.
