Surely he'll take the 3/$75.

Nah, he'll reject it in hopes of a 4 or 5 year deal.

Unbelievable. I thought he'd only get that kind of money from the Yanks if they decided to go after him. I'd like to see him stay in the NL so I don't have to see him put up 3 HR games at Fenway. I really don't see Manny putting up the numbers he put up in Dodger blue for more than 2 or 3 years.

This doesn't make any sense to me. Why would he take the 2 year deal? Are you sure it wasn't 3 years at 65 or 70 mil? But they know he's not going to take either, and I don't think they want him to. This seems like a move strictly to appease the fans.

I believed you, I was just trying to make a point that it didn't make any sense.

He takes the two years if he (well, if Boras) thinks that he can get even more in two years than he can now. But going for three make it a little more likely that he's on the decline and showing it and teams will be less likely to give him that kind of money.

So... if Manny feels like he's on the decline, he takes 3... if not, he takes 2.

And I suppose as smart as Boras is, the upcoming tax situations will play a role.

Everything I have heard is that the Yanks want NOTHING to do with him.

The AL can have him back, we don't want him here either.

I heard Hank say they were going to explore all options including Manny. Like I said though the thought of a motivated Manny at Fenway would probably require the Red Sox to pass out helmets to fans sitting in the Monster seats

I'm assuming Giambi and Abreu won't be re-signed, so the Yankees do need another bat.

Manny isn't going to sign for less than 5 years. He actually wants a 6 year deal, but I don't feel like he'll get that. He'll end up with 5 from someone.

nope.

Idk where Giami would end up (maybe back in Oakland?) but I see Abreu ending up filling a void in RF for the Cubs and their fallen savior, Kosuke Fukudome.

I'll always keep and cherish this SI cover:

Fukudome should have retired after opening day.

How'd Fuke's season numbers end up? I don't feel like looking it up.
