youre an idiot

hightower makes the most from the least

not only hightower but the whole coaching staff is probably the best in louisiana

also stm has some huge playmakers and are very strong all around should be a contender for state and win the district

comeaux will be comeaux and may be better but not good enough

barbe should be ok but they lost some players

acadiana lost to STMs jv team last year pretty bad i think

and sulphur is usually good

1. STM
2. Sulphur
3. Acadiana
4. Barbe
5. Comeaux

and STM losing mahtook really isnt a dropoff STM has players to fill that spot

STM=most returning starters

The old District 2-5A was the best district ever. Neville, Ruston, Ouachita, West Monroe, and Bastrop. Someone from that district has played in the finals all but 1 year since 1988 I believe. I really doubt you'll see a district dominate like that again.

Thats pretty impressive. What about all around sports. The current 2-5A has some pretty impressive Baseball programs with Sulphur and Barbe. Acadiana has come on as of lately and STM and Comeaux always field decent teams. The only thing that would bring this district down is basketball. I don't know about track either so that could be a downfall too.

The dominance of the Monroe/Ruston/Bastrop district came when 4A was the highest classification. 5A has only existed since 1991. Neville went to the title game in 91 and 92 losing in OT both years. West Monroe won it in 93, 96, 97, 98, 00, and 05 and they lost to Evangel in 99, 01, 02, and 04. They also lost at Evangel in 03, this is the only year since 88 that someone from that district didn't make teh finals. Ouachita won it in 89 and lost to Hahnville in 94. Ruston lost to WM in 98, but won several titles in 4A in the 80's and the 90 team is considered one of the top 3 ever in the state of Louisiana. Bastrop obviously has carried on the recent success of those teams listed, winning the past 3 years.

The key to the success is the playoff atmospheres you experienced every week in district. That is why I think the new 2-5A is having such success. They play tough teams week in and week out where teams like WM are forced to play weaker teams. Most of the games are out of hand by the half and they are never really in a dogfight until the playoffs. This has hurt them the past 2 years and they've bowed out in the 2nd round to 2-5A teams that were better battle tested.

In the late 80s-early 90s, Bastrop and West Monroe were the doormats in that district.

One year, Ouachita went 7-2, was ranked in the top 10 in the polls, but missed the playoffs, because both losses were in district.

I did Ouachita games on radio the last part of 88 and all of 89- saw some damn good football.
