I'm also not a Zenyatta fan. Actually I thought her last race was her best. I know you were pissed off last night Aspy. That shite doesn't fly up here. Every now and then some rogue tourist hippie tries to protest and gets shut down pretty quick. Speaking of super foals, did The Green Monkey ever break his maiden. I don't think he did and I believe he is now standing stud somewhere.

ETA: No he didn't and yes he does.

yo aspy this is the only thing i could find on battle of hastings

second half of the video
LINK

also, I really think Ritvo would best be served sending MMM to Belmont instead of Pimlico. he is made for that distance and the extra rest would serve him really well.

ETA: 5/9/11

Battle of Hastings doing well after surgery

quote:

“According to (equine surgeon) Dr. Bramlage, he could make a full recovery,” said Fox of Battle of Hastings, who took a bad step near the finish of the turf race on the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) undercard.

“Following the surgery, it’s truly a masterpiece,” added Fox. “The fracture line, you can’t even see it now. It’s a great testament to everyone’s professionalism from start to finish. He’s a great patient. I just left him and he’s walking around the stall as if nothing happened; it’s incredible.”

news and notes:

- Derby winner Animal Kingdom was sent to Graham Motion's Fair Hill base in Maryland this morning. will likely head to Pimlico as late as possible.

- looking likely that Santiva, Prime Cut, Nehro and Saratoga Red may skip the Preakness. Prime Cut to the Peter Pan and Nehro to the Belmont, IMO.

- Paddy O’Prado, who had a really good 3 y/o campaign, worked five furlongs on a firm Matt Winn Turf Course in 1:01. Dixie Stakes on the Preakness undercard is his next probable start.

- once Derby hopeful Elite Alex is the 4-5 morning line favorite in the 10th race at Delaware Park tomorrow. it's a 1 m optional claimer. being from Canada, i bet they're pointing him toward the Queen's Plate.

I'll keep an eye out for updates. I feel it may be weight related. A lot of those guys ruin there organs to make weight. I wish they would up the riding weight like England. A few pounds isn't going to hurt the horses and may help the riders a little.
