One more day until the Derby folks!
BIGGEST news obviously is that Uncle Mo will not run in the Derby
not a shocker but definitely changes the field a bit

quote:
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Uncle Mo isn't running in Saturday's Kentucky Derby.
Owner Mike Repole says the colt has been scratched because he hasn't recovered enough from a stomach ailment to run in the 1 1/4-mile race. Uncle Mo was the 9-2 second choice on the morning line.
That reduces the field for the 137th Derby to 19 horses. Dialed In is the 4-1 early favorite.
Repole made the announcement Friday morning, about 40 minutes before Derby wagering opened.

I was more referring to him even being an option and not lumped with other. There are many horses with lower odds. They wouldn't have him in there if he didn't have a big shot.

So who had 8:30 et for the scratch? Anybody? Anybody?

found this blog post interesting:
2011 Kentucky Derby View of the Start (disregard Uncle Mo, obviously)
- Historically, horses in the auxiliary gate (posts 15-20) will angle sharply to the left at the start to move quickly toward the center of the track.
- Horses lined up in posts 1 and 2 actually need to angle to the right to avoid hitting the rail.
- Horses coming from posts 11 to 14 will angle to the left to secure center position.
- Horses coming from posts 3 to 10 will generally move straight ahead when leaving the gate.
- This year, it appears #4 Stay Thirsty is most likely to get squeezed back by the crush of three early speed types angling in front of him from the left and #1 Archarcharch crossing in front of him from the right.
- Others that are likely to be impeded at the start are #13 Mucho Macho Man and #16 Animal Kingdom as speed horses desperate to secure good early position angle sharply in front of them.
- #20 Watch Me Go has it super tough coming from the 20 hole.
- Horses with the projected best starts include #8 Dialed In, #9 Derby Kitten, #10 Twinspired, #1 Archarcharch, #11 Master of Hounds, #7 Pants On Fire and #12 Santiva.

IF I bet this race Ill probably take the chicken shite route and go $1 exacta box on 5 horses. Anyone know how to do the special pick 3 on twinspires?
Btw, every year my dad sends me a derby shirt and I'm sporting the hell out of mine right now

Thanks. Didn't know if it would be something special since it's 2 days
Posted on 5/6/11 at 10:00 am to Aspercel
no problem. it's easier to do Doubles and Pick 3s on the Twinspires Express one, i just don't like how cluttered it is so I rarely use it.

John Velazquez has picked up the mount on Animal Kingdom, replacing the injured Robby Albarado.

Can a brother get a update when race 3 runs

about 21 MTP
i'm taking your 1 horse with the 3 and the 5.
just fricked myself in race 2. knew i should've picked the superior bred colt to win but there just wasn't enough value there so I went with a longer shot. of course he nipped the two favorites at the wire and my horse finished 7th.
