It's hard to believe that this university's lack of success. Located in Chicago, a very talent rich area, why are they such a substandard NCAA team?

I can't figure this out either, especially since they joined the Big East and can offer that opportunity to recruits.

I don't even think DePaul was one of Gates' finalists. It was between Marquette and Indiana, I think. Marquette won him over with the Bradley Center personalized intro. Kevin O'Neill was a recruiting beast.

Purnell turned around a Clemson basketball program that was in the grave didn't exactly have a lot of local resources to draw from. It took a while before he turned them around. Even though they bombed in the NCAA tourny it was pretty incredible what he did, give him some time and DePaul will be in the NCAA tourny in a few years (especially with the expansion of the tourny
)
