actually it's about a largely meaningless statistic that must be further analyzed to gain any serious context...
Tiger came in in 97 right?
He won 14 Majors all by leading after 54 holes.
That mean he lost 39 Majors while trailing. Thats Huge.

2 rounds in the same day. Your gameplan really doesnt change. Not the same.

That would give my info on the intranet. Dont really want to do this.
Dont worry about me. Take my info for what it is. I love golf and play at a high level. I know people who set up majors. Just here to give some info. Should be an exciting final round.

Man....I guess you dont play Tournament golf. It is totally different going into the last round losing than leading. Your gameplan changes hugely.
I've played quite a bit of tournament golf...I would say mindset and gameplan have more to do with the course, the conditions, how your game is at that point, who's near you on the leaderboard, what the stroke differential is, etc., etc. Not simply if you're in the lead, or not.

so your gameplan never changes in the middle of a round?? i am not following here. trailing by 1 after 54 holes is not a big difference than trailing by 1 after 55 holes from a gameplan standpoint.

Gameplan is set night before. So course conditions is out. Who is near you doesnt matter either. You find a number you think will win and try to gameplan accordingly. Your game is always the tops, thats why you are there. Its mainly fine tweeking at this point.

Your plan is to hit an iron off an par 5 on the back 9. That doesnt change because you lose the lead by 1 shot on the front. Your plan doesnt change unless you are losing by a significant amount after being close.

the point is you can't simply boil this stat down to the fact of whether, or not, he is leading after 54. This is typically been more telling about where his game is at the moment vs. some mental block.

Sorry guys. Im not here to argue. Have fun watching the US Open today. Just thought id give some real insight to the mix.

so if you plan to hit a 6-iron on the first par 3 the night before, you stick to it even though a front moved in early and you're now hitting into a 35mph wind??
