Would anyone be shocked if the Vikings drafted a guy like Tyler Bray or Tyler Wilson in a later round? Have someone push Ponder, and if Ponder doesn't pan out (I think he can be a starter in the NFL, but he'll never be elite) you've got a backup with a nice skill set.

Patterson is probably the most athletic player in this draft. But it is like they were saying last night, he is more of a raw talent since he has little experience against real teams.
But he will AT THE LEAST be an immediate starter in special teams, and a slot receiver.

Why would Ponder cream his pants about a shitty tight end that plays for the Patriots?
Especially when he had Baby Gronk(Kyle Rudolph)to throw to all of 2012...
Also, I bet if he was answering honestly, he would rather have Harvin over any of these fools.
I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and maybe you were just in a coma for all of 2012

Word is he'll be wearing #84 and Carter will personally mentor him

Jennings will be a great mentor for Patterson. He is still raw, so I would not expect great results right away. Two years from now though
Jarius Wright is going to have a nice year in the slot as well. Ponder fricking loves his bubble screens.

I want Landry Jones in the 4th still. Cassel is the backup though.
To people saying they paid a king's ransom for Patterson, it might be a little exaggerated. They gave away 52, 83, 102, 227 for 29.
The seventh is useless. Basically, they traded their 83rd and 102nd pick to move up 23 spots. Probably a bit of an overpay, but it is far from a killer. Plus, the Vikings entered the draft with 11 picks.
For fun, I looked at a draft-pick value chart:
Pick number - pick value
29 - 640
52 - 380
83 - 175
102 - 92
229 - 2.5
Vikings received 640 points and the Patriots received 649.5 points. A gap of 9.5 is roughly worth the 207th pick. Fairly even according to this ESPN insider chart I found back in 2004. I am sure it is outdated, but close enough.

I found a second draft value chart and it had the same values. This looks up-to-date, so I guess the values are still the same.

Good pick then. I didn't know the value was that close. Then again we really have to wait to see how he pans out with the team. If he makes a AJ Green type of year...ok it was worth it. If he puts up numbers similar to Crabtree then maybe not.

It would be worth every draft pick for the next two years for AJ Green 2.0.
The key is to see how is he doing after three seasons. I hope the pressure is not too high on him.
I think I still would have preferred to wait to grab the last of the top six receivers and only traded if necessary because only one was left, but whatever.
