The only thing that works and is used in every sport in the world are automatic qualifiers so every team knows in August what they need to do. This sport will get there within a decade.
So much complaining simply because two G6 teams happened to get in, and people acting as if it "stole" a spot from a "more deserving" team. The only way the G6 was even able to get a second team in is because of probably a once in a decade scenario playing out where the AAC and SBC champs, who won their champ games, were ranked higher than a five loss ACC champ.
If Virginia wins, then this doesn't happen, but the at-large blue bloods who got left out would still be bitching about Tulane, or even Virginia, not being one of the 12 best teams in the country.
The rules seem pretty clear on this thing, though we all know they'll be altered after all the crying we've had since lunchtime yesterday.
The five highest ranked conference champs.
Seven at-large spots for the highest ranked teams that did not win their conference.
Plain and simple.
