That is definitely the reason, but the way Herrera has been hitting, and Alcantra before him, it might as well be the pitcher hitting. That's my point. You dont have to keep Soler there if the 9 hole guy isn't getting on base.

I agree that Herrera and Alcantara have been awful, but they are still better than any pitcher at hitting. Except for maybe Travis Wood. And I was just trying to say that Maddon wants to preserve the lineup for everyone else's sake.
