Since Lake Charles' Little League team seems to be getting all the press, why not give some of our local girls the same.

The Plaquemine 12U girls team has made it to the Babe Ruth Softball 12U World Series in Audubon, Pennsylvania

They are the Southwest Regional Champion and have yet to lose a game this post season.

Pool play started on August 7th and they were one of only 2 teams in the 14 team tournament to go undefeated, winning their 6 games by an average score of 8 to 1. The double elimination bracket games started today, with the champion being crowd this Friday I believe.

This team is made up of mostly girls from last year's Babe Ruth Softball National Invitational Tournament championship team, so they know what it takes to win one of these

Haven't they won the State title every year since they were 8? My daughter plays against that team every other year when she moves up in age brackets, they are a real tough team for sure. Good Luck!

Today's win put their postseason record at 17-0.

They face Oviedo, FL, the Southeast Regional Champion tomorrow for control of the tournament. The winner goes to the Championship game and will have to be beaten twice to lose the title.

Oviedo is the only other team besides Plaquemine that hasn't loss this series. They have went 8-0 so far. So it should be a great game

Speedy these girls are the Cajun Crushers team right? Someone was crying at work yesterday about them being a travel team and it not being fair. If they are the team I'm thinking of, several play travel together but they are split up during the league play on different teams which makes them perfectly legal.
Here in St. Charles, hardly any of the travel girls play recreation anymore so our all-star teams have gotten weaker. Our 14's did win State and finish 2nd in the Regional though.

not all of the players are on that travel team, but alot are.

every player on this team played rec ball in the league and have been doing so since t-ball.

that travel team was formed a few years ago, made up of all star players from the league, in order to give them some tournament experience, for situations like this.

They won again today, 5 to 1.

That makes them 18-0 this postseason.

They play in the Championship Game tomorrow against Hamilton, New Jersey., who will have to beat them twice to win the title

Just checked the Babe Ruth website; Plaquemine got beat twice by Hamilton, NJ to finish 2nd at the world series. Good job ladies, no shame in being #2 at that tournament.
