All I read was

2. 2005 Vince Young and
7. 2010 Cam Newton

While I agree with their defenses for the most part, the offenses are not right IMO

2010 Cam... er Auburn that low?

2010 Auburn was shut down by a lowly pac12 defense

And that unstoppable PAC 12 offense was shut down by a suspect Auburn D

i think individually cam was better than vince young, but vy had way better talent around him than newton had.

I don't think that was the point.

The point was Auburn was unstoppable, but a team full of scrubs from out of the SEC stopped them, when no one in the SEC could

That list is surprisingly spot on

I'd imagine a lot of that is due just to where they finished relative to other teams, and the "star" power on the teams. Those Florida State stats jumped out to me, so I compared them to this year's UGA team.

'99 FSU:
Rushing Offense: 122.8 ypg
Passing Offense: 302.9 ypg
Total Offense: 425.7 ypg
Scoring Offense: 37.5 ppg

'12 UGA:
Rushing Offense: 184.2 ypg
Passing Offense: 274.2 ypg
Total Offense: 458.3 ypg
Scoring Offense: 37.2 ypg

Soo...UGA had 62 more rushing yards, 30 less passing yards, 30 more yards, and equal points per game in a MUCH tougher league, yet FSU is the 9th best offense of the era while UGA is nowhere on the list (nor should we be, btw). I guess the reasons are 1)we didn't have the star power and didn't play in the NCG and 2)their numbers were ranked higher than ours nationally.

If LSU had any sort of an offense, they would have prevailed and if Bama didn't choke away a 24 point lead, it'd be a different story..but now I'm kind've playin into your argument

Oregon didnt "stop" Aurbun any more than LSU did. Both chalked one up in the "L" column

relative to other teams is huge, because that fsu 99 team played in a different era, before every other team went to the spread offense and the yardage/point totals ballooned in the past 10 years or so. also, fsu had a qb that would win a heisman, and peter warrick was one of the most dynamic playmakers of the last 15 years.

Yeah that's kinda the point I was getting at. They finished with fairly high national rankings in those categories (except rushing), while we didn't finish high in any of them. Yet our numbers are fairly similar.

I think that shitty turf deserves most of the credit for stopping the offenses in that game. People were slipping everywhere.

Tougher schedule? UGA's regular season schedule was laughable this year.

Compared to a 1999 ACC schedule?
