Some folklore from the 1913 race
The cry should have been "Officer, arrest that man," when Jules Goux drove into victory circle after winning the 1913 Indianapolis 500 in his revolutionary DOHC Peugeot. You see, the happy(???) Frenchman had consumed six bottles of champagne on his way to victory. In fact, during one stop there wasn't time enough for Jules to get his usual refreshment, so a crewman threw a cup full of the bubbly in his face as Goux dropped his Peugeot in gear and sped back into the fray, with a smile on his face. He remarked, “Without the fine wine, I would not have been able to finish the race!”

Marco Andretti pain train about to crack the top 10

I have been watching the race, but this race is so damn boring, I grew up watching the Indy 500 I used to be a big Al Unser Jr. fan. Now the only I really know and care about is Danica Patrick. Glad she is moving to Nascar fulltime next year, so I can give up Indy Cars. Just haven't been the same since the year they split up Indy Car and IRL.
and as far as the 600 goes I gotta pull for Mark Martin he has always been my favorite Nascar guy.

Whats for?
The split sucked. You had Michael Andretti running one series while shitty drivers like Buddy Rice winning the 500.

Are you talking about the split between CHAMP and Indy? He said Indy Car and IRL which are two names for the same organization. That's why I was confused

that is what I meant. Its been awhile couldn't remember the series name back in the day. I knew it changed to the Indy racing league.

Does anyone feel that this race isn't as competitive as it normally is?

Ok, I was seriously confused (hence the ) lol. Andretti Motorsports Team on the move: Marco in 3rd, Danica in 10th!

A lot of the heavy hitters qualified poorly and are struggling to come through the pack. From Helio to Kanaan to Marco. Penske across the board is doing awful. I think it's going to be a good finish though as things continue to sort themselves out.

I disagree. I feel that DFranchitti has the race won. He's been drafting off the leaders the entire race, just waiting for the right time to make his move.

Tony Kanaan not fricking around, back up to 6th after being around 20 on the last caution.
